Alligator

My favorite zoo animal is the alligator.  The alligator lives mostly around the southeastern coast of the United States.  Its natural habitat is in the wetlands including rivers, swamps, and brackish coastal marshlands.

My favorite animal the alligator is a large meat-eating reptile.  They usually are between 6 an 16 feet in length and they can weigh up to 600 pounds.  It has a short, blunt snout which shows upper teeth when the mouth is closed.  They swim using their long powerful tails and also their webbed feet.  Alligators are night creatures feeding mainly at night.  Their diet is made up of fish, birds, turtles, reptiles and mammals.  They swallow their prey whole.  They have about 80 teeth, which when they lose they regrow.  They also swallow stones to aid in digestion.

Alligators are not a threatened species.
