The animal I choose to write about is the Black Bear. Black Bears can be found across most of North America, up into Alaska and as far south as Mexico.
They live in thickly wooded areas near water. A Black Bear climbs trees to escape danger, or to look around for food. Most of it's diet is made up of plants, roots, grains and fruit. Black Bears will eat any meat it finds, but won't normally kill unless it's easy prey.
Black Bears have very bad eyesight, they are also color blind. In the winter, the Black Bear will make a den and hibernate for up to six months. The Black Bear weighs about 375 pounds and can run up to 35 miles a hour.
Black Bears usually live alone. I like Black Bears because
they look like my teddy bear,
soft and cuddly.
