"Book Two: Survival Island" by Gordon Korman"
A Review by Laura

Summary - This book is about 6 kids who are sent on the CNC (“ Charting a new course “) to learn about discipline, when one night there boat explodes and four young kids are thrown overboard onto a tiny raft. They float around in the ocean waters until one day they come ashore a tiny island. When they come ashore they notice there is little water and more people, mean people. A miracle happens weeks later Will wakes up from Amnisia, but the greatest miracle of all is that the two younger kids on the boat had made it too on meals form the boat the CNC. Several hours later the discovery of an Army Air Hut, are where they cry but are filled with happiness too. “There Captain had made It home”! Although the mean people are now gone, they still have one big problem, 1# there traped on a island 2# they have little food 3# and months maybe until...they will be found.

Suspense - 1# The suspense in the story was,   would they survive? It kept me guessing if   Will would ever get out of Amnesia or not. What ever happened that made the boat  explode? Who where these smugglers and   what were they doing on this Island? The suspense was getting more intense in every word!

Character -  The character personality’s were all quite similar. Charla could be a little disturbing  at times, Will annoying, Luke greedy, Ian clever, Lyssa worried and J.J open  minded. They change bit by bit; their clothes are all worn. Luke to me is, there the boss, Ian the one who figures most things out and Charla stuck in the middle. They eventually all grow closer in the end.

Important lessons -  I learned some very important things. When someone is hurt or ill, working as a team helps. Other lesons were not just to think about yourself. Of all though the most important lesson was to become good friends, which to me is a very important lesson!

Imagination -  Ian imagined all sort of things. Once that he could be home. Also to build a fire and to become Luke’s friend.  to build a shelter and five to see his parents again.

Difficulty - They had some difficulty starting the fire.  Also when they had to take care of Will.  It seemed difficult not to get mad with each
other during this time.

Recommendation - I would recommend this book to a friend because it is very interesting it shows how it feels to be alone and away from home  very young and you don’t know what to do. This book was great and I know you would like it!  :)
