Adopt - A - Bat Program

This year the grade three students in Mrs. Benoit's class decided to collect money to adopt-a-bat. During the bat theme in October children looked at the Batworld.org website and learned about the safe haven that takes in injured or orphaned bats. Upon seeing this website and reading about all the bats at Batworld, they decided to adopt Bootsana, a straw colored fruit bat. For three weeks the children brought in loose change to pay for the fee associated with taking care of the bat. After registering their bat and waiting anxiously, they received a package that gave all the information about their bat, an 5x7 framed photo and a certificate acknowledging participation in the program. Every couple of months the children receive a newsletter from Batworld about the happenings of the bats and are very excited to find out the news. They were very proud to take part in this environmental awareness project.

In the past Mrs. Benoit's class adopted a bat name Ripley who has since retired from the program.
