This project on Dinosaurs is based on a unit in the Grade 2 Language Arts program.  It involves researching a dinosaur of each child's own choice. The 17 students in Grade 2 produced papers on  the dinosaurs of their choice. They researched each dinosaur using a matrix sheet containing such topics as appearance, size, habitat, food, enemies and other interesting facts.

The objectives for student learning that this project supported are:

    a) students are expected to use a range of strategies to develop effective writing and  media products to enhance their clarity, precision and effectiveness.

b) students are expected to use the writing process of prewriting, drafting, revising,  editing and presentation strategies.

    c) students will use mapping skills to locate areas where dinosaurs lived.

    d) students will use estimating skills and rounding skills in researching the size of their dinosaur.

    e) students will search the Internet, locate, download, and save pictures of dinosaurs.

    f) students will present their work on a web page.
