On Tuesday, December 20,
Tricentia Academy held its annual Senior High Awards Assembly.
We would like to congratulate all of the recipients of the
numerous awards, and thank the many contributors who help make
our Awards Program such a success...we would not be able to do

VOLLEYBALL
AT TRICENTIA
Congrats
to the Senior Girls Volleyball team on a great performance at
the 2A School Sports Provincial Tournament this past weekend. The girls
came home with the silver medal, losing a very close match in the championship game. Thanks to the coaches and the parents who accompanied the
girls to Glenwood this past weekend...GREAT JOB GIRLS!!!
Remembrance Day Assembly
Once again this
year, Tricentia Academy held a special Remembrance Day
Assembly at the school. We would like to thank those
teachers who organized this assembly and helped with the
Bulletin Board display in the school foyer. We certainly
appreciated the involvement of the cadets and their leaders as
well as other members from the community. Please take a
moment to remember why we experience the freedom we have, to
acknowledge those who gave us that freedom, and to express our
thanks.

Walk/Living Healthy
Commotion Day
On
Wednesday, October 12, students, staff, and several
individuals from the local communities participated in the Annual Terry
Fox Walk at the school. We would like to take this opportunity to thank
all students, staff, and community members for their amazing support over the years. Your contributions to this very worthwhile cause
is very much appreciated. On Thursday, October 13, at approximately 9:00a.m., a very special guest, Mr. Fred Fox (the brother of Terry Fox),will be in attendance at Tricentia Academy...we would certainly like to welcome him to our school!
Students and staff also participated in numerous activities throughout Wednesday to promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Activities included a hike on the Bordeaux Trail, Volleyball, Zumba, Juggling, Dancing, etc...what a great day!

Canadian Student Leadership
Conference, CSLC, 2011

Students and
staff at Tricentia Academy are proud to have Kayla, Bert,
Dakota, and Ms. Abbott attending the CSLC in Corner Brook this
week. We hope you have a fabulous time and bring many
wonderful ideas and activities back to our school.
Curriculum
Night and 10th Anniversary
Celebration at Tricentia
On
Wednesday evening we will be having our annual
Curriculum
Orientation Night, but we will also be
incorporating a 10th
Anniversary Celebration
at Tricentia Academy. It is hard to believe that
10 years have gone by since the doors of
Tricentia Academy were first opened. We would
like to extend a welcome
to share in this
celebratory time with our school community.
BOYS SOFTBALL
Congrats to the
Senior Boys Softball team on their silver medal
performance
at
the Regional Qualifier in Arnold's Cove on Monday,
Sept. 26.
The boys went undefeated in
the round robin, and lost a close
championship game
to the team from
Heritage Collegiate, Musgravetown.
Congratulations is also extended to the
winning team from
Heritage...we wish you
the best of luck at Provincials!.

in helping coach the team from

2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR
SAFE WORK NL...WHO
WANTS TO SAVE A LIFE?
Tricentia
Academy is extremely proud of a group of students (Jody Hickey,
Kenline Hickey, Kenny Williams, Kayla Tobin, and Mitchell
Brewer) who were recently successful at the final
competition in Gander on May 19. It was an amazing final
competition with both teams claiming the grand prize of $1000
each for individual awards, as well as $5000 for the
school...way to go TEAM!! Details of the competition, along with

EASTER ASSEMBLY
HIGHLIGHTS
Our Easter
Assembly was simply amazing. Many students and groups
were recognized for various awards and accomplishments.
The Tricentia Academy choirs were recognized for their great
performances at the Kiwanis Music Festival, and awed the
school community with their songs. Numerous Lion's Club
Speak-Off Awards were presented to students for great speeches
that were delivered earlier in the year. A Duke of
Edinburgh Award was presented to Nichole Stryde...what a great
accomplishment Nichole! Winners of the "I Spy Challenge"
from an Education Week contest were announced, as well as a
"Jelly Bean" contest from Easter Week.
Mr. Calvin
Peach was present at our assembly for the presentation of a
$6500 Provincial Wellness Grant for our school...a special
thank-you to Mr. Peach and those individuals at the school who
prepared the application for this grant...great job!
Finally,
and VERY IMPORTANTLY, we
had several students who participated in Tricentia's 2nd
Annual SHAVE FOR THE BRAVE. Dusty Gilbert
organized this wonderful event and there were four students
(Dusty, Mason, Bert, Branton) and one teacher, Mr. Smith, who
had their heads shaved. A special thank-you to Mr. Slade
for volunteering his time (and barbering skills) in coming to
our school to shave the heads. Also, a thank-you to
those other individuals who participated in the fund-raising
for this event...GREAT TO SEE!!!
KIWANIS
MUSIC FESTIVAL
GOOD
LUCK to all participants in this year's Kiwanis Music Festival
in Clarenville. We certainly wish Ms. Boland and our choirs as well
as
individual participants from our school all the best!
DRAMA FESTIVAL

Congratulations
is extended to Mr. Smith and the Drama Team on a
wonderful
performance at this year's Regional Drama Festival in
Clarenville. Once again, you represented our school very
well and
we thank you for your dedication and effort.
ROBOTICS at
TRICENTIA ACADEMY
Congratulations
to Mr. Walsh and the Robotics Team as they participated in a
Robotics Competition in Bay Roberts this past weekend.
This is a new endeavor for students at our school and we are
proud to have you being a part of these fabulous competitions.
VOLLEYBALL SUCCESS
During the
weekend of March 18-19, Tricentia Academy had the Grades 6 and
7 boys
participating in the NLVA 13U tournament in Clarenville, and
the boys won a silver medal...AWESOME! The team played
extremely well throughout the tournament.
THE BASKETBALL
SEASON AT
TRICENTIA ACADEMY HAS BEGUN
During the
weekend of Feb. 25-27, Tricentia Academy had the elementary
girls basketball team (under the leadership of Ms. Courtney
and Ms. Hollett) participate in an NLBA tournament in Mount
Pearl. The girls had a great tournament and were wonderful
representatives of the school...way to go!
On March 4-5, the Senior Boys Basketball team
participated in their Regional Tournament at Random Island
Academy and had a very good showing...all games were extremely
close with the boys losing a couple of key match-ups by only 4
or 5 points.

Education Week has always been about celebrating education and
the
importance of learning. This year's theme is "I
Think. I Can. - iThink.
iCan!, Penser, c'est pouvoir. - iPenser. iPouvoir!"
It has been
broken down into separate sentences for emphasis and combined with
the popularity of technological devices such as iPhones and iPads.
Technology, Community and
Personal Development will be sub-
themes that are focused on as the week progresses.
Tricentia Academy will be planning various events/activities...stay tuned
for more
information!
MORE SUCCESS on the VOLLEYBALL COURT

During the
weekend of Feb. 25-27, Tricentia Academy had the senior boys
participating in the NLVA Juvenile B tournament in Clarenville,
and the the senior girls participating in the Juvenile C
tournament in Lewisporte. The teams represented the
school very well, both on and off the court. The girls
reached the Quarter Finals and the boys won the Juvenile B
tournament...well done! Special congrats to Josh Lockyer
and Nathan Ploughman who were named to the All-Star team
and to Tyler Lockyer who was named the tournament MVP!
Thanks again to
all coaches and teacher sponsors who make these events
possible for our students...MUCH APPRECIATED!
Volleyball Success...
Last weekend
Tricentia Academy had male and female teams participate in the
15 and Under NLVA Provincial Tournaments, in Corner Brook and
St. John's. Bot h
teams played very well and are to be congratulated.
The boys won
the gold medal and banner in the Tier II Division of their
tournament ... AWESOME guys!
Special thanks
is extended to all coaches, teacher sponsors and parents who
accompanied the teams...without your continued support, these
events would not be possible for our students...thank-you!

Senior Boys Volleyball Provincial Champions
Tricentia Academy hosted the 3A
Senior Boys Volleyball Tournament this past weekend and it was
certainly a success. All teams represented their various
schools and regions very well, with sportsmanship evident
throughout the tournament. In the end, the Tricentia
Timberwolves remained undefeated throughout the tournament and
won the championship with a hard fought victory over Discovery
Collegiate in the final. CONGRATULATIONS BOYS and
coaches - Mr. Dion Piercey and Mr. Josh Blackwood...your hours
of dedication were evident in the boys' performance!
MANY THANKS go out to all
those individuals who helped out with the tournament,
especially Ms. Lisa Courtney, the tournament convener. A
special thanks, as well, to all those who billeted boys from
the other schools...without your support the tournament would
not have been possible. Thanks, again, to EVERYONE
involved!!!!
Kerry Clarke
Memorial Volleyball Tournament

Tricentia Academy
and the Senior Boys Volleyball Team were honored to host the
Kerry Clarke Memorial Volleyball Tournament this
past weekend, November 26/27. Mr. Clarke, a teacher of
the school, passed away suddenly this past June. Mr.
Clarke was a great sports fan and was extremely involved in
the athletics program at our school.
A special
thank-you is extended to Dion Piercey (coach) and the Senior
Boys Volleyball team who organized this event in memory of Mr.
Clarke. Teams came from six schools in the area to
participate and the Senior Boys team from Tricentia won the
gold medal in a very close championship game. It was a
very special win for the team and Mr. Piercey.
Thanks to all
those (including parents, student, staff) who contributed in
making this event a success.
Thank-you, as
well, to members of the Clarke family, and special friends,
who were in attendance at the event on Saturday...our thoughts
and prayers remain with you...
3A Regional Volleyball Champs!
Congratulations to our Senior
Boys Volleyball team who won the 3A Regional on
Tuesday, November 23. The boys won the championship game
against Discovery Collegiate to claim the banner. The
team will be hosting the 3A Provincial Tournament in
mid-December...way to go boys!
3A
Provincial
VOLLEYBALL Tournament!!!

Tricentia will be hosting the
3A Senior Boys Provincial Volleyball Tournament
on December 9-11. We, as a school community, are
certainly looking forward to this event and we will be looking
for assistance from parents and any others who wish to help
out...especially in relation to billeting athletes from
schools that will be attending the tournament. If you
are interested in providing accommodations for traveling
teams, could you please contact the school by Thursday,
November 25....THANK-YOU!
We will be providing more
tournament details in the near future.
VOLLEYBALL SUCCESS at UNDER 15 NLVA REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
This past weekend
our Under 15 Boys and Girls Volleyball teams participated in
the NLVA Regional Tournament in Clarenville. Both teams
played very well, but a special congrats
is extended to the male squad who captured the Bronze medal at
the tournament... AWESOME!
Student Leadership Conference, 2010
On
Thursday, October 21, Ms. Abbott and Tricentias Leadership
Team will be traveling to PSLC 2010. The Provincial Student
Leadersh ip
Conference is being held at Prince of Wales Collegiate in St.
Johns. Sarah
Courtney,
Stacie Hann, Cally Pevie and Bethany Welsh will be
representing
our school at the awesome event. Everyone attending
will be involved in fun and inspirational activities. We are
looking forward to the great ideas
that they will bring back and share in future classes and
assemblies. Have a super time!
