| In our Kindergarten classroom we have two red eared sliders. They are
seven years old. The male turtle, Franklin, is the smallest and is very
shy. The larger one is the female. Her name is Valentine. She is much more
aggressive.
She will come to the side of the aquarium, sticking her head up, as soon as one of the students approaches the tank. She thinks that everything is food. The turtles spend a lot of time sitting on top of each other under the sunning lamp. They are really good swimmers, staying under water for very long periods at a time. The kindergarten students enjoy watching their antics each day. |
