My mom works at VOCM / K-Rock , two radio stations in one building. VOCM is an AM radio station and K-Rock is an FM radio station. Ten people work there.
VOCM has been in Grand Falls-Windsor for many years and they really want you to listen. They have contests, and they play different kinds of music so that everyone will hear what they like. You may phone in on your birthday and join the Birthday Club! You may win some cool prizes, and you'll hear your name on the radio.
Jim Coady and Roger Barnett may be the two names you know best. My mom writes the commercials you hear on the radio and sometimes you'll hear her voice on the commercials.
An interesting piece of information about this and other radio stations is that when everything else is closing down because of bad weather, the radio station is busier than ever! They let us know about our school bussing, school openings and closings, and other cancellations.
