Dominion

The first Dominion store opened in Grand Falls-Windsor in August 1974.  It was located in the Exploits Valley Mall, but they built a brand new building close to the mall, and they reopened in September 2003.  They have beautiful scenes of places in our town painted on their walls.
Dominion has about 120 employees that work in over 15 departments and they sell such things as groceries, kids' clothing, appliances, sporting goods, books, Cds, movies, camping things, and even toys.  You can also get pictures developed, get your medicine and send a letter to a friend, all under one roof.
Dominion also offers a community room where people can have birthday parties or other group events.  People can also do cooking classes in the community room.  Along with all the things that the store sells, they are also big supporters of children’s charities.  Also, the St. John's Maple Leafs and Dominion sponsor the
Agree to Read Program in schools across our province.  Each student signs a contract to read for four weeks, and at the end of each week you enter your name and address in the box at the nearest Dominion store.  Every store picks a name each week and they provide a free nutritious recess to each person in the winner's class.  This year, Corey Boone's name got picked and we got our favourite fruit and juice.  I had a banana and orange juice.
My mom works at Dominion and her job is to make sure all the items you can see are priced right.  My mom also puts up all the signs, and she helps people when they cannot find things.  Dominion is a very cool place to see different things, especially the live lobsters!
