| Windsor Pentecostal Church The first Pentecostal service was held in our town in 1926 at Grand Falls Station, which later became known as Windsor. The first Pentecostal Church was opened on May 31, 1931 and it is known as the old "crippled-back church." The Windsor Pentecostal Church’s new complex was built on 97 King Street in the summer of 1995. The first service was held on July 9th, 1995, but they did not have an official opening until October 8th on the Thanksgiving Weekend. They had a lot to be thankful for. Our church has six Pastors and staff members, along with a lot of volunteers who help in day to day preparations of upcoming events. I like going to our Church so I can praise God, and also to learn about the different things the Windsor Pentecostal Church does for people inside and outside of our community. The Pentecostal Church does a lot of Missionary work in other countries, especially those countries that can not afford to build churches for people to worship God, and those who need help building orphanages for children who have no parents and no place to live. In our Church we have a fun program called STUFF which is held every Monday night at 7:00 p.m. during the school year. Children from ages five to eleven can come there to learn about God and to do fun activities. At the end of every Monday night we get STUFF dollars which we save up until the big celebration at the end of the year. This celebration is called Mall Day. This is where children come to spend their STUFF dollars on games, activities, and food. It is a really fun day and I really enjoy it. There is a lot of space in the church complex because when it opened it housed the Windsor Pentecostal School . The school closed when the denominational system was eliminated in 1998, and the government reduced the number of school boards and consolidated more schools. Last year the grades one, two and three students from Woodland Primary had their Christmas concerts at the Windsor Pentecostal Church because the church is so big. It was nice having my Christmas Concert at my church. Chantal Kelly (2004-2005) |
