Day & Ross Inc.

On June 6, 1950 Elbert Day and Walter Ross started
Day & Ross Inc.  They began with one truck hauling potatoes from New Brunswick to Quebec.  Today Day & Ross Transportation Group hauls more than just potatoes.  It maintains a fleet of 3300 vehicles and trailers.  It also has over 4100 employees and owner operators, and more than 80 terminals and other operations across Canada and the United States.  Day & Ross General Freight Division is one of the largest transportation companies in Canada.  They offer transportation services anywhere in Canada, and to and from the United States.  The company's head office is located in Hartland, New Brunswick.  The central Newfoundland terminal is located on Hardy Avenue in Grand Falls-Windsor.
When my three friends and I visited Day & Ross we got to see how they load and unload the trailers for shipment.  We got to see a forklift and a dolly, which are used to lift heavy objects.  There are different jobs at Day & Ross.  They have mechanics, truck drivers, dock workers, office staff and dispatchers.  It was exciting visiting the Day & Ross terminal, where my dad works as a truck driver.  We had our Flat Pen Pals from Tany’s Dell School in Harlow, England with us when we visited Day & Ross.  My flat pen pal, Flat Nicola Purser enjoyed her visit, too.  She really liked being on the forklift.   When my dad owned his own truck in Ontario, I got to travel with him and sleep in the bunk of his truck.
It was fun learning what they do at Day & Ross!  Thank you for letting me and my three friends visit.
