| MCP – Grand Falls-Windsor The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Care Plan is located at 22 High Street in Grand Falls-Windsor. It was originally located in St. John’s but it was moved here in 2001. There are 37 people working there. At the MCP office, everyone in the province is registered and given an MCP number. No two numbers are the same. This number lets the doctor identify you so that he can get paid for seeing you when you are sick. Also, you need an MCP number in order to enroll in school. I got to see how they print my very own MCP card there! There are four divisions of MCP. The first one is the Public Services Division where you are registered and apply for Out-of-Province Coverage. The second is the Medical Affairs and Training Division where they test MCP programs and write rules for the doctors to follow. The third and fourth divisions are the Processing and Assessing Divisions where doctors’ claims go through a computer system to get paid. My mom works in the Assessing Division. Zackery Sampson’s Aunt Lynette also works with MCP. This year, MCP is going to ask everyone to re-register. This has not been done since 1969, and they are wondering whether everyone that is registered is still living here in Newfoundland and Labrador. Your MCP card is a very important card to have. When three of my classmates and I visited the MCP office one day after school, we took our Flat Pen Pals from Tany's Dell School in Harlow, England with us. My flat pen pal, Flat Jacob Jordan enjoyed his visit. The people were very nice at the MCP office and they gave my three classmates and me treats! Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable.
