The Exploits Golf Facility features a 9-hole par three golf course and golf driving range. It is primarily owned and operated by Dave Gardner and Son. The facility is located six kilometres west of Grand Falls-Windsor off the Trans-Canada Highway. It is only a slapshot away from the Grand Falls Golf Club, and the entrance is near Red Cliff.
The driving range opened in 1994. It has 25 stalls and the driving range is 320 metres long. The 9-hole par three golf course opened in 2005, with further plans to extend the course another 9 holes. It contains 18 tee offs, large greens and fairways. It features a Signature Hole where you get to shoot a golf ball 91.44 metres over water. Mr. Gardner told me that you can bring your own golf clubs or get a set at the facility. It is open to all ages of golfers and non-golfers and it caters to birthday parties and rentals.
My whole class visited the golf course. We shared our adventure with our Flat Pen Pals from Tany’s Dell School in Harlow, England. They got to ride on the bus with us and I let my pen pal, Flat Kyran Daisley, hit a golf ball. We had a lot of fun hitting the balls as far as we could. Although, no one hit a ball 320 metres! Mr Gardner said that people usually hit the ball about 200 metres. I think I’ll have to practise a lot to hit a ball that far!
