Keyin College

Keyin College was founded by Gwen Tucker in March 1980.  The college is based on sound principles of education, highly qualified instructors, a relaxed learning environment, and industry driven curriculum.  Keyin College’s curriculum is designed to offer skills training that prepares its students for the demands of today’s competitive marketplace.  Keyin College has become a leading private post-secondary college with nine campuses throughout the province of Newfoundland Labrador.
The Grand Falls-Windsor campus opened in 1996 and it is located at 3 Hardy Avenue.  There are a total of eighteen employees who work at this college.  There are eleven teachers and seven people who work in administration to make sure that the school is running the way it is supposed to be.  Keyin College is there so that people can go there to get further educated so that they can get a better job in a career that they are interested in.  Some of the programs offered at Keyin College are: Computer Studies, Software and Systems Administration, Computer Electronics and Network Support, and Business Management and Office Administration.  All Keyin College Campuses have three full-time enrollment periods each year, beginning at the early part of January, May and September.
One day after school five of my classmates and I visited Keyin College with our teacher and Denika Lewis’s mom to get pictures for my report.  My mom and my little brother came with us because the reason I wrote my report about Keyin College is my mom goes to school there.  We also took our Flat Pen Pals from Tany’s Dell School in Harlow, England with us.  The principal, Bill Hanlon, gave us a super tour of the school.  He let us use the computers in the computer lab to vote for Nonosabasut Rock in our town as one of the Seven Wonders of Canada.  It was the last day to vote.  Our class nominated this unique two-faced rock that last year’s class named after the Beothuk chief, Nonosabasut.  He was killed trying to protect his wife, Demasduit, and his newborn child.  To our surprise, out of over 18,000 nominations it got picked for the top 52 wonders for people to vote for.  Thank you, Mr. Hanlon.  My flat pen pal, Flat Melissa Oleschuk, and I really enjoyed our visit to Keyin College.
